[Translation:]
Last day of October, 1915.
For such a long time I haven’t
written a single word in here.
But it’s the best indication that
things are good, as I only feel
the need to write
when my emotional state
is poor. It’s not right,
really. I should not ignore
the happy times, since, if I were
to pick up this book again
after many years, I must think
there hadn’t been a single hour
in my life when the sun shone
for me. – Arnot [1] bought
my portrait, [2] it’s a pity that
a photograph wasn’t taken
to remember it by later.
||
In whose room shall I be
hung? A strange thought –
not to know where a work
one has come to love will end up,
which people I will smile
down upon.
