Saturday, June 26, 1915 3h in the afternoon
It was impossible for me to describe the
past two days; they may have been better for Egon, but
for me they were so exhausting that I was unable
to write a single word in the evening.
Today Egon is due to be transferred; if only it does
happen, then he would get away from this terrible
horde and I from this awful
Prague. As long as Egon was with me,
Prague seemed a very agreeable city, but now that I’ve
seen so much of it by myself, I have got to know
the city and the people.
I cannot possibly go to see Egon now; first of all,
I have to tidy up, pack, and so on, secondly,
I can’t see him like this, and thirdly, I’m
ready to collapse with tiredness.
I will just go to the station to inquire about
the trains, and then go straight
home again.
If only I weren’t so terribly tired.
Thank God – Mrs. Lederer [1] has sent a teleg.[ram]!
